Pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by vehicle

A woman in her early 60s was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while walking across an intersection on Tuesday night. The pedestrian was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Members of the Redmond police and fire departments responded to the accident at 7:32 p.m.

Preliminary investigation reveals an adult male was driving northbound on 166th Avenue Northeast and struck the woman on the north side of Northeast 79th Street as she was walking eastbound across the intersection. There was one witness in a separate vehicle who provided information to police at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. At this time, investigators do not believe drugs and/or alcohol are factors. Investigators do believe that rain and poor visibility may be factors in the collision.

The case is under investigation by the Redmond Police Traffic Division.
