Possible armed robbery at bakery; threats at junior high school; Redmond Police Blotter Jan. 21-27

Wednesday, Jan. 27

Theft: A victim’s purse was stolen from a locker at a gym in the 7900 block of 178th Place Northeast.

Carted off: A suspect walked out of a store in the 17200 block of Redmond Way with a cart full of groceries, passing all points of sale, and was apprehended by police. The suspect will be charged with theft through investigation.

Rotten roommate: A resident of the 8400 block of 166th Avenue Northeast said his property was pawned by his roommate. The roommate admitted to doing so.

Tuesday, Jan. 26

Disorderly conduct: Redmond Police responded to a disturbance at Northeast 80th Street and 164th Avenue Northeast. A suspect was obstructing a Metro bus and will be cited through investigation.

Narcotics investigation: Redmond Police’s Pro-Act team conducted a narcotics investigation in the 7800 block of Southeast 28th Street.

Domestic violence: A Redmond man was arrested after assaulting his sister in the 8300 block of 167th Avenue Northeast.

Shoplifting: A suspect took an 18-pack and a 12-pack of beer from a store in the 7300 block of West Lake Sammamish Parkway without paying for the merchandise.

Monday, Jan. 25

Possible armed robbery: Redmond Police investigated a report of a possible armed robbery Monday morning at Great Harvest Bread Company, 17192 Redmond Way. According to Redmond Police spokesperson Jim Bove, “A man walked in and demanded money with a plastic bag. One hand stayed in his sweatshirt pocket so nobody is certain whether or not he was actually armed.”

The man reportedly had a bandana around his face and a hood pulled up over his head. He was believed to be a white male around 6 feet tall and weighing around 300 pounds, with short dark hair.

No one was injured and no physical contact was made with anyone before the suspect fled. He was not located.

Graffiti: Unknown suspect(s) sprayed purple graffiti on a storage container located at the south entrance of the Redmond Watershed Preserve in the 21700 block of Novelty Hill Road. Photos of the graffiti were taken.

Assault 4th degree: Redmond Police responded to a reported physical domestic violence call in the 18600 block of Northeast 59th Street. The suspect was arrested a short time later.

Sunday, Jan. 24

Asleep at the wheel: An adult male was arrested for physical control of his vehicle after he fell asleep in the middle of the road on Redmond Way.

Theft: Redmond Police responded to a reported theft at a restaurant in the 8900 block of 161st Avenue Northeast. A possible suspect was identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Saturday, Jan. 23

Car prowls: Redmond Police responded to car prowls in the 18600 block of Redmond Way and 18500 block of Northeast 58th Court.

Friday, Jan. 22

Shoplifting: An adult male was arrested for theft after he removed merchandise from a grocery store in the 15800 block of Redmond Way, without paying.

Threats: School Resource Officer Bill Corson was contacted by Redmond Junior High School regarding a complaint of a student who threatened another student and had in his possession what appeared to be “dangerous wood-fashioned weapons.” Redmond Police spokesperson Jim Bove explained that the suspect had a vest made of wood, with nails sticking out, as well as a hand-made wooden sword which was not sharp. However, there had been an actual threat and prior incidents that led Corson to have the student transported to Redmond Police Department, where his parents were contacted. The incident is still under investigation.

Car prowls: Redmond Police investigated car prowls at a park in the 17200 block of Northeast 104th Street and multiple prowls at a school parking lot in the 10000 block of 166th Avenue Northeast. Windows were smashed and purses and other items were taken.

Domestic assaults: A juvenile was arrested for assaulting her mother in the 9300 block of Avondale Road and police also investigated a physical disturbance between a husband and wife in the 6000 block of 185th Court Northeast.

Thursday, Jan. 21

Suspicious circumstance: A juvenile female reported that two suspects were driving slowly next to her in a dark blue van near Northeast 75th Street and 132nd Avenue Northeast and that she was frightened.

There was no communication between the suspects and the reporting party and no crime was committed.
