Princess Buttercup, the bunny at Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park, passes away

Buttercup leaves behind her partner Newton, her caretakers, and the many beloved park visitors.

The City of Redmond’s Parks and Recreation department announced in a Facebook post on March 8 that Princess Buttercup, the bunny at Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park — which is home to several farm animals — has passed away.

Buttercup has left behind her partner Newton the Bunny, her caretakers, Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park’s on-call vet Dr. Laura, as well as the many park visitors over the years.

“Buttercup never had a bad day. She was always happy to see staff, children, and of course, food,” stated the Parks and Recreation’s announcement.

The post about Buttercup’s passing brought up how she participated in day camps and farm tours or sparking joy in visitors at the barn.

“If we were to quantify all the moments that Buttercup made someone smile with delight or eased a crying child with a cuddle, then the City has lost something much larger than an 8-pound rabbit,” read the announcement.

According to the City of Redmond’s Parks and Recreation, Princess Buttercup lived a fulfilling and happy life until the very end.
