Redmond-based Vortex Cellars is celebrating its hometown pride this summer by offering its award-winning wine at the 71st annual Redmond Derby Days on July 8-9.

The small craft winery will be pouring alongside Redmond-based Black Raven Brewery. Both companies were chosen by the City of Redmond to participate in the event that’s expected to draw crowds of up to 15,000.

Vortex Cellars plans to offers its Gold Medal award-winning 2010 Rose, 2008 Cascade Red and 2009 Viognier for guests in the beer and wine gardens located at the City Hall garden and the criterium bicycle course.

Vintner Ed Wicklein is excited about the opportunity to share his wines with his community.

“Part of me would prefer to be participating in the criterium,” Wicklein says, “but pouring my wines and talking to fellow wine lovers is where I really want to be.”

Vortex Cellars specializes in French- and Spanish-style wines, made with a blend of both traditional and modern techniques.
