Redmond Heights Senior Living and Redmond Care and Rehab Center — formerly Cascade Plaza Assisted Living and Cascade Vista Skilled Nursing — recently received a donation of flower bulbs from Fred Meyer in Redmond.

In addition, the store offered to send volunteers to plant the bulbs for the retirement community.

Redmond Heights was recently acquired by the Ensign Group. With this new ownership has come new signs, painting and renovations and now a volunteer group to fill the campus’s landscaping with colorful summer flowers.

On the planned morning for the planting, six volunteers from Fred Meyer — Graeme Yager, Dan Benton, Lee Gilman, Rupesh Sheth, Geoff Lyons and Chris Kennedy — arrived at Redmond Heights.

“The weeds in the flowerbeds had shown their appreciation for the recent sunshine and rain by growing to healthy sizes,” said Mechele Sarieddine, campus marketing director for Redmond Heights. “What a surprise when we looked at the finished beds. We never expected to see absolutely clean flowerbeds too, when the crew finished hours later!”

Sarieddine added that the Redmond Heights community wanted to “wholeheartedly thank Fred Meyer for the dozens of flower bulbs they donated and specially thank this wonderful group for their time, their initiative and their humor while doing this great community service.”

“We’ll remember you with every blossom,” she said.
