Three Redmond High School juniors were honored for excellence in math, science and technology by the Kirkland-Redmond Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) at an awards ceremony held earlier this week at the Lake Washington School District service center.
Kamya Bijawat, whose interests include photography, rowing, art and community service, was recognized for her achievement in math. Nanditha Narasimman, who is enrolled in several Advanced-Placement science classes while participating in cross country and singing, was recognized for her achievement in science. Kelsey Dunn, an all-state athlete in cross country and track and an all-King County basketball player interested in computer programming, was recognized for her achievement in technology.
Each honoree was given a certificate of excellence and two gifts.
The award program also included a presentation by Helene Martin, a lecturer from the University of Washington’s Computer Science and Engineering Department, who spoke about the variety of careers available to graduates who have studied math, science and technology.
