Redmond High students finish second in state math competition

Twenty-four students from Redmond High School took home a number of trophies from the Washington State Mu Alpha Theta Convention. The competition was held at Thomas Jefferson High School on March 21. Mu Alpha Theta is the national high school mathematics honor society. The team won second place overall in the sweepstakes. Those awards are given to the schools whose students average the best performance in each test or division.

Mu Ciphering: Adit Murali (junior), second place; Dalai Chadraa (sophomore), third place

Theta Individual: August Chen (freshman), third place

Alpha Individual: Daniel Liu (freshman), first place

Mu Individual: Jonathan Qu (senior), first place; Adit Murali (junior), second place

Circles: August Chen (freshman), first place

G.A.M.E.S.: Daniel Liu (freshman), second place

Statistics: Jonathan Qu (senior), second place

Probability: Jonathan Qu (senior), second place

Geometry: August Chen (freshman), first place

Alpha Eq and Ineq: Daniel Liu (freshman), first place

BC Calculus: Dalai Chadraa (sophomore), first place; Adit Murali (junior), third place

In addition, on March 14 (Pi Day), the Redmond math team consisting of Ryan Bruntz (junior), Jaenic Lee (junior), August Chen (freshman) and Daniel Liu (freshman) took second place at the Interlake Math Competition at Interlake High School in Bellevue.
