Redmond High students shine at state DECA competition

Earlier this month, DECA students from Lake Washington School District competed at the State Career Development Conference, where they competed against 3,400 other students.

Earlier this month, DECA students from Lake Washington School District competed at the State Career Development Conference, where they competed against 3,400 other students. The following students will move on to compete at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Fla., at the end of April. There will be over 13,000 students competing at this level.

Here are the placers from Redmond High School:

Seniors Kelly Weiss, Caroline Armijo and Charlie Mroz – first place, Creative Marketing Project with Eddie Bauer

Senior Joey Costello and junior Sam Notarianni – second place, Creative Marketing Project for Foot Zone (they were also sub-category winners in Financial Analysis Team)

Senior Paul Cretu – third place, Accounting Applications (He also wrote the manual that earned RHS Gold Certification for the store for the fourth year in a row)

Seniors Erin Windham and Logan Dougherty – fourth place, Sports and Entertainment TeamSeniors Jackie Gaherity and Peyton Halstead – fifth place, Hospitality Team event

Junior Bri Dankberg – sixth place, Sports and Entertainment individual event

Senior Myeka Powers – sixth place, Apparel and Accessories individual event

Seniors Brittany Montag and Kelly Weiss – seventh place, Marketing Communications Team Decision Making event
