Redmond joins EarthCorps for Climate Action Month

The City of Redmond has joined with EarthCorps for the organization’s latest environmental initiative – Climate Action Month. Through Nov. 21, EarthCorps will be working with public and private partners to lead volunteers throughout the Puget Sound area in planting trees in parks and public natural areas.

On Saturday, Nov. 14, the opportunity to participate in Climate Action Month comes to Redmond. Volunteers will gather at Perrigo Community Park, 9011 196th Ave. NE from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to plant trees and learn about the environment. Tools, gloves, instructions and refreshments will be provided.

Pioneered by EarthCorps and Esurance in 2007, Climate Action Month includes 13 other hands-on opportunities to improve forests, wetlands and shorelines in cities across western Washington.

“Redmond is excited to be a part of Climate Action Month this year,” stated Teresa Kluver, parks operations supervisor. “Although climate change and ecosystem degradation are serious threats, Climate Action Month emphasizes fun, everyday actions that give everyone the chance to make a difference in the environment.”
