Redmond Police Department (RPD) K-9 Remy apprehended a man who struck an unoccupied Duvall Police Department (DPD) vehicle while driving a stolen vehicle on Thursday morning. Remy tracked the man along with RPD officer and partner Dan Smith.

According to DPD Sgt. Lori Batiot in a news release, the incident occurred at approximately 8:38 a.m. and officers briefly pursued the driver, who was recklessly fleeing at a high speed. Officers lost sight of the vehicle but soon found it abandoned near the area of Northeast 124 Avenue and 275th Avenue Northeast in unincorporated Duvall.

“An officer confronted a male matching the suspect’s description when he briefly stepped out of the woods,” Batiot said. “The male fled back into the woods. Officers set up containment and Redmond officers, a Redmond K-9 Remy, King County deputies and Guardian One assisted.”

Remy located the suspect hiding in the wooded area at about 10:30 a.m.

The suspect was treated at a hospital for a dog bite and booked into King County Jail on multiple charges. No officers or civilians were injured. RPD Lt. Brian Coats brought a mobile automated fingerprint identification system machine to the hospital and law enforcement members quickly processed the suspect’s fingerprints.

According to Becky Range, RPD public information officer, Redmond communications contracts with the City of Duvall to provide 911 dispatch service for their police department.

“The call came into our dispatch and they did a great job handling communications. Calls from residents with sightings of the suspect came in and they also made calls to Everett to coordinating processing of the stolen vehicle,” Range said.
