Redmond Mayor John Marchione has been elected the 2013 vice president of the Sound Cities Association (SCA), which represents 35 cities in King County and provides a regional voice for nearly one million people.
“Mayor Marchione brings to SCA tremendous leadership, experience and a unique ability to build public and private sector partnerships throughout the region,” said SCA President and Renton Mayor Denis Law.
SCA provides a voice for King County cities through leadership in areas such as economic and community development, transportation, land use, health, government operations, the environment, education, public safety, social welfare and other public policy issues.
In addition to his work with SCA, Mayor Marchione was also recently elected vice chair of the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC).
“With his involvement in both organizations, Mayor Marchione will help SCA build an even stronger regional partnership on transportation, economic development and growth management planning issues facing central Puget Sound,” Mayor Law said.
Mayor Marchione also represents the City of Redmond on the Cascade Water Alliance Board and serves as a representative of the Eastside of King County for the Sound Transit Board.
