Redmond police arrested three teenage male suspects after they took part in a residential burglary last Friday morning, according to Becky Range, Redmond Police Department (RPD) public information officer. Police are recommending charges of first-degree burglary for the three while a teenage female suspect remains at large.

At around 6 a.m., police believe the suspects — ages 16, 17 and 19 — gained entry to the home in the 10200 block of 179th Avenue Northeast by cutting an open window screen in the back of the residence.

Range said initially the homeowner heard some noise downstairs and investigated, but didn’t see anything. He went back upstairs, and a few minutes later went back down and encountered the female, who had a laptop and ran out a door.

“And then that’s when he realized that some other things (electronics) were missing and then he called the police,” Range said.

The other three suspects had already left out the back and none of the suspects were located on the premises when the police, along with a K9 unit, arrived.

The homeowner had already reviewed security footage before police arrived and noticed two white males inside the house on the video.

“A neighbor shared their camera footage and that helped immensely,” Range said.

The neighbor’s security footage of his front yard and driveway, which was taken just before the burglary, showed the two males inside the burglarized home and the female, who was described as possibly Hispanic, and another white male. One of the suspects appeared to be carrying a handgun, which was later discovered to be an air-soft handgun.

While officers reviewed the video, they believe they knew the identity of one of the suspects, whom they’ve had several encounters with, Range said.

Officers knew where he was staying in Redmond, arrived there and waited nearby. They followed a vehicle, containing two of the male suspects, when it departed and at about 4:40 p.m. last Friday officers coordinated a high-risk traffic stop on 132nd Avenue Northeast in Kirkland and arrested the suspects without incident.

Later that night at 11:50 p.m., officers arrived at a home in Redmond with a search warrant and arrested the third male suspect.

While searching the vehicle, officers found the air-soft handgun, the stolen electronics and “They actually found two different articles of clothing and another piece of what this guy was wearing (on the security footage) inside the vehicle. So it’s just more evidence that ties in,” Range said.

Investigation is ongoing.
