Redmond Police Department to offer free child safety class

The Redmond Police Department will present a free child safety class at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 27.

Due to high demand, there will be a second class offered at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 24.

Classes will be in the Public Safety Building Training Room, 8701 160th Ave. NE.

Suggested age range is 6-12 and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Topics to be covered include:

• Who exactly is a stranger and what crimes do they usually commit?

• Calling for Emergency help.

• Who abducts children and how they lure them.

• Creating a safety plan.

• What to do if someone tries to grab you.

• Safety while on the internet.

Be sure to RSVP for everyone attending (children and adult). Seating is limited so register only if you know you will be there.

These classes are being offered in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s “Take 25” program.
