Redmond Saturday Market Kid’s Day full of sun and fun

Kid’s Day at the Redmond Saturday Market was a sunny success as the kid’s booth area was at full capacity — a first for the market, according to market manager Martha Tyler.

Mr. Darby, a popular children’s music performer, and Shumba Youth Marimba Youth Ensemble, which performs traditional African music, provided the entertainment as kids sold their arts and crafts at booths on the grassy area near the market, which is located at 7730 Leary Way.

Tyler said she got a lot of positive feedback from the community after Kid’s Day.

“I plan these events on holiday weekends on purpose so that the families who don’t go away have something fun to do with the kids,” Tyler said, adding that one parent wrote her and said, “Kid’s Day was amazing — great crowd, great weather. My son had a blast selling $40 worth of magnets. We will definitely do it again.”

The Redmond Saturday Market continues through Oct. 29. For more information, visit www.redmondsaturdaymarket.org.
