Redmond Senior Center offering gardening classes this spring

The Redmond Senior Center is offering gardening classes this spring, beginning March 23.

Instructor Nancy Tom of Down-to-Earth Gardens, Inc. has 10 years of experience creating, installing and maintaining gardens in Seattle and in the Redmond vicinity. With a background in both art history and horticulture, she creates custom drought-tolerant, low-maintenance landscapes to suit both your needs and the architecture of your home.

“These classes are designed to help people learn some basic principles and installation techniques so they can design their own landscapes and achieve the professional-looking results they want,” said Tom. “Attendees can expect to walk away with a number of great ideas that will help them conserve resources such as water, while at the same time, make their landscapes more self-sustaining.”

Classes include “Combining Plants for Seasonal Containers,” “Introduction to Landscape Design,” “Selecting Plants for Your Landscape” and “Plan Your Vegetable Garden.”

Registration information, including schedules and fees, is in the Redmond Recreation Guide, which can be picked up at the Redmond Senior Center, 8703 160th Ave. NE; the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 NE 80th St.; or the Redmond Regional Library, 15990 NE 85th St.
