The Redmond Arts Commission presents an art exhibit at the Redmond Senior Center (RSC), 8703 160th Ave. N.E., by mixed media monotype printmaker April Richardson.
The exhibit will run from Nov. 2 to Jan. 2 and features several of Richardson’s works exploring the life cycles of nature.
Richardson is known for her large-scale botanical mixed media monotypes. Her work explores the origins of living things, along with patterns in nature and the life cycle that every living thing experiences. These cycles of life are evident in her compositions. This is combined with saturated colors and a variety of collage and printmaking techniques.
“I’m intrigued by living things – twining vines and sprouting buds – and the force that pushes a seed or bulb through its cycle of emerge-grow-bloom-fade-decay-begin again,” Richardson said.
As part of her exhibit, Richardson will hold a demonstration and talk about her work and the process of monotype printing at RSC on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 11 a.m.
