Redmond Boy Scout Troop 520 members Patrick Brady, Josiah Cline and Jack Reilly will receive their Eagle Scout designations on Jan. 10 at a Court of Honor conducted at Redmond Presbyterian Church. Friends, family and troop leaders will attend the celebration, including parents Tony and Becky Brady, John and Stephanie Reilly and David Cline and Siri Bliesner.

Brady and Reilly, both seniors attending Eastside Catholic High School in Sammamish, did their Eagle Scout projects at their high school. Brady built the shot-put throwing pit/area for the track team, and Reilly installed the Stations of the Cross in an outdoor viewing/walking area.

Cline, a senior at Redmond High School, built a new trail in Smith Woods, a park in northeast Redmond for his Eagle Scout project.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program. Since the first Boy Scout earned his Eagle award 100 years ago in 1912, the distinction has been earned by more than two million young men. Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges and demonstrating ideals of service and leadership, including organizing and leading an extensive service project. Fewer than 5 percent of Boy Scouts nationwide attain this illustrious rank.

Scouting has had more than 100 million members since its inception in 1910.
