Redmond High’s Sean Kato fired a first-round 71 on Tuesday and is tied for second heading into the second round today at the 4A state golf tournament.

Also at Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland, Redmond’s Connor Golembeski is tied for 27th with a 79 heading into day two.

On the Redmond girls’ side at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco, Ally Collier is tied for eighth with a 75 and Lauren Settle is tied for 24th with an 80 heading into day two.

In the 1A competition at Liberty Lake Golf Course in Spokane heading into day two, Bear Creek’s John Hayes is tied for third with a 72, Overlake’s Rohit Sirosh is tied for 14th with a 79 and Bear Creek’s Oliver Nordberg is tied for 18th with an 81.

Overlake’s Trent Gardner and Bear Creek’s Madison Baugh completed their seasons on day one.

• Redmond’s girls finished second in district and third in Kingco last week at the Snohomish Golf Course. Settle was fourth overall with a two-day 158 and Collier was sixth with a 164.
