On Monday 57-year-old Redmond resident Cathy Rogers, a casual cyclist, will begin a ride across the country to support the American Lung Association of the Mountain Pacific (ALA).

She will be riding a Pedego electric bike, which will help her keep up with the team of hard-core cyclists she will be riding with, all of whom are riding traditional pedal bicycles, including her husband Paul.

The Rogerses will set off at 7 a.m. on Monday as part of ALA’s Big Ride Across America, brings together 14 bicyclists, each of whom is charged with raising $6,500 to support the charity in its research, education and advocacy programs.

Rogers’ team plans to travel about 100 miles per day.
