Voters approved of the King County Fire Protection District No. 34 Proposition 1 by 57.33% to 42.67% in the 2022 August primary election.
The proposition will provide funds for the limited purposes of fire protection and prevention, and emergency medical services for residents of unincorporated King County in the greater Redmond area. The District will pay the City of Redmond for costs of the emergency medical services and fire protection services provided by the City of Redmond Fire Department.
The proposition lifts the district’s maximum regular levy rate for collection in 2023 to $1.25 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.
The proposition will also set a limit factor for levy increases from 2024 to 2028 at 106%. The maximum allowable levy amount for 2028 will be used for the purpose of computing limitations for subsequent levies.
