RYPAC to hold fundraiser at senior center for Open Kitchen

The Redmond Youth Partnership Advisory Committee (RYPAC) will hold a fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the Redmond Senior Center (RSC), 8703 160 Ave. N.E., for Open Kitchen.

The Redmond Youth Partnership Advisory Committee (RYPAC) will hold a fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the Redmond Senior Center (RSC), 8703 160 Ave. N.E., for Open Kitchen.

Open Kitchen is a ministry of Redmond United Methodist Church, 16540 N.E. 80th St., that serves hot meals from 5-7 p.m. every Wednesday to anyone who comes through the doors. No one is turned away and they have been averaging between 50-100 meals each night.

Ken Wong, teen programs administrator for the City of Redmond, said RYPAC has supported the program in the past as volunteers and the group decided they wanted to find another way to help the organization.

All proceeds from Friday’s dinner will go to Open Kitchen to support their dinner program.

“Teens saw the great work that Open Kitchen volunteers were doing for Redmond and wanted to find a way to show that teens care and want to help,” Wong said. “RYPAC created this opportunity by bringing in teen performers and hosting a dinner that will raise money to go back to Open Kitchen.”
