School district cancels classes, activities for today; senior center, Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center open as warming centers

Due to the snowy and icy weather, all schools in Lake Washington School District (LWSD) are closed today, Thursday, Feb. 24. There is no extended day care. All programs and activities are cancelled. There are no athletics, events or building use.

The Bear Creek School and Overlake School are currently on mid-winter break this week. Classes for both schools will resume Monday.

The City of Redmond canceled all of today’s parks and recreation classes and programs through 2 p.m. However, most indoor classes and programs are proceeding as scheduled this evening. Some programs may be canceled by instructors. In those cases the instructors will contact the class participants.
The City of Redmond Fields are still closed until further notice.

Youth basketball practices located in Lake Washington School District Facilities are canceled, but practices at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center (ORSCC) are not canceled.

The Redmond Senior Center, 8703 160th Ave. NE, and the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 NE 80th St., are open today as warming centers.

In addition, parking enforcement in downtown Redmond will be temporarily suspended for today (Feb. 24) and tomorrow (Feb. 25).

The National Weather Service predicts there is an 80 percent chance of more snow showers today, mainly before 4 p.m., with daytime snow accumulation of 1-2 inches possible. The high will be near 33 degrees with the temperature dipping below 20 tonight, according to the weather service.
