Sign up early for King County Parks’ 2011 Big Backyard 5K run and walk, and get a free hoody

The inaugural King County Parks Big Backyard 5K run and walk brought more than 500 runners and walkers to the trails of Marymoor Park this past May – and raised more than $20,000 for King County Parks. Organizers are hoping the 2011 event, set for Sunday, May 22, will be even more successful. In an effort to kick-start early registration, everyone who signs up for the 2011 fun run and walk by Nov. 30 will receive a free training hoody. Early registration is just $25 and entrants will also receive a Parks t-shirt, plus food, drinks and more on race day.

Event registration is a snap; just visit http://www.bigbackyard5k.com and choose between signing up for the race via the online form, or download an entry form and send it via U.S. Mail.

The course is flat and participants are encouraged to bring their leashed dogs with them. The 5K runs along the Marymoor Connector Trail and the adjacent East Lake Sammamish Trail. The Marymoor Connector links the East Lake Sammamish Trail to the Sammamish River Trail, which becomes the Burke-Gilman Trail near Kenmore and continues into Ballard.
