SoulFood Books and Cafe is celebrating its third birthday at 15748 Redmond Way in downtown Redmond, May 1-3.

The building opened its doors with the idea to create a space where music, art, spirituality and community could be housed under one roof.

“We are grateful to be supported by this remarkable town,” said co-owner Clint McCune. “Our mission is to create a safe and dynamic space that allows people to shine their light and connect with others who are doing the same. To be centered in a neighborhood that is as artistically and spiritually diverse as ours just lends to the magic that happens here.”

Co-owner Sara Pelfrey commented, “This last year for SoulFood has been about developing that vision of supporting our community together, whether it is the 50 musicians who come for our open mic or experience a room full of people sitting in a meditation posture, finding their breath, it all is a vibrant expression of the people we see every day.”

Community events for SoulFood’s birthday celebration include a Friday evening dance with the band TWIRL, open mic on Saturday and community drum circle on Sunday. Sales, speakers and other events will round out the weekend. For information, call (425) 881-5309 or visit www.soulfoodbooks.com.
