Spring State junior political convention set for April 27-28 in Redmond

The Pacific Northwest Junior State is holding its final major convention of the year, Spring State, on April 27-28 at the Redmond Town Center Marriott.

The Pacific Northwest Junior State is holding its final major convention of the year, Spring State, on April 27-28 at the Redmond Town Center Marriott.

The Junior State of America is an organization that promotes political involvement in high school students through discussion and debate. It is the largest completely student-run organization in the nation with more than 10,000 members. The Pacific Northwest Junior State contains students from Washington, Oregon and Idaho. They meet at three major conventions each school year, where they debate current social, political and economic issues.

Spring State 2013 will feature more than 500 students coming together for a weekend of discussion, debate and fun. In addition, there will be a guest speaker from the Pacific Northwest community, to be announced. Previous guest speakers this year have been Washington politician Dino Rossi and Superintendent of the Beaverton School District Jeff Rose.
