Star Talk coming to Redmond: Workshop will focus on interplanetary communication

Sandra Rodman is convinced that, in the not so distant future, humans will “start future colonies on the Moon or Mars.”

That’s why it’s important we prepare for out-of-this-world life now, said Rodman, a former Redmond resident who will spearhead, “Star Talk 1: Preparing for Extraterrestrial Communication & Expanding Human Consciousness” on Saturday at the Maitreya Learning & Healing Center in Redmond.

The all-day, cutting-edge, interactive workshop, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m,. will help participants to think beyond the local and global level and “stretch their minds into space,” said Rodman, CEO of Kirkland-based Parallel Universe, which offers right brain aerobics for corporate business members.

Living in space and communicating with aliens may sound crazy now, but it’s important to think ahead of our time, Rodman said, adding that no one expected Global Warming to happen a few decades ago.

“This is the right class for our times,” said Rodman, who lived in Redmond before moving to Whidbey Island last year. “We need to focus stretching the conscious in a more interplanetary way. We are headed to space. … NASA is seriously working on building colonies on the Moon.”

Star Talk 1 will include meditations and brain exercises that will help participants think in a whole new way, expanding their creativity and problem-solving skills, Rodman said.

Rodman will be joined by Sara Pelfrey, co-owner of Soul Food Books & Music, who has an extensive background in facilitating meditations, along with Trinity Shea Thomas, a teacher from Boulder, Colo., as the workshop’s moderators.

“Regardless if you think that space travel will be in our future, I think my favorite thing about (Rodman) is that she makes us stretch beyond our box and see things bigger than ourselves,” Pelfrey said. “She pushes us beyond our own conventions, which allows us to see things from different angles.”

Rodman, a former senior director at AT&T Wireless and vice president at Merrill Lynch, said anyone is welcome and materials will be provided at the workshop, which will cost $125 per person. The workshop will be very positive and humorous, Rodman added.

Rodman said Star Talk 1 will help participants with “unusual communication,” but it will also provide valuable information they can use in their everyday life. Being able to think beyond the global level will help open people’s minds, which ultimately could improve such things as business collaboration, personal relationships and self-confidence, Rodman said.

“(Star Talk 1) is about personal development,” Rodman said. “How to consciously understand reality so you can collaborate and be more creative. We alienate each other. This will connect ourselves to each other and connect us to what is far beyond us.”

The workshop will help people become more creative, more relaxed with their consciousness and in the end “help reduce fear of what extraterrestrials are,” she said.

“(Star Talk 1) helps you rethink what is different,” she said.

Rodman stressed the workshop is not a joke, and called it a “professional credited course.” There won’t be any talk about alien abductions or flying saucers, Rodman said.

If you come, she said to “bring an open mind, comfortable clothes and relax. There is no pressure.”

“I was raised to have a curious mind,” said Rodman, whose Dad was a amateur astronomer. “Now I am just sharing my experiences.”
