Recently, 20 students and alumni students from Stella Schola Middle School in Redmond became elves while helping out at the Forgotten Children’s Fund (FCF) Christmas as their semester project.

Students acted as Santa’s elves by heading to the North Pole (a donated warehouse/office near Renton) to wrap new toys and clothing for needy families in the greater Seattle area. Some students dressed up in Santa hats and reindeer antlers.

“Helping out gives us the chance to make a wonderful holiday for people who might not get anything,” said 10th grader Pamela Herring.

FCF began in 1976 when a boy named Craig wrote a letter to Santa Claus asking for a gift, not for himself, but for his sister, who did not get anything for Christmas the previous year. The letter ended up touching the hearts of many people and FCF was born. The organization is a volunteer-only nonprofit organization, which provides a memorable Christmas to more than 80,000 youngsters and their families.
