This scholarship program recognizes and rewards students who excel in career and technical education, leadership and community service. The state legislature created the award in 1984.

The WAVE award pays undergraduate educational tuition for two years (six quarters or four semesters) at an accredited public or private college or university, or licensed vocational school. Students are reimbursed up to the amount of the highest tuition charged by a public university in the state.

If tuition is paid for through other means, the WAVE funds can be used for other valid educational expenses. The student must maintain a term grade point average of 3.0 to continue using the award.

The students were honored at a breakfast on May 22 at Northshore School District for WAVE winners from the Northeast Puget Sound Vocational Area Cooperative (NEVAC).
