Suspect robs shopper at gunpoint inside Redmond business

A female shopper reported to police that a male suspect robbed her at gunpoint inside a Redmond business on Wednesday evening.

Redmond officers responded to the incident at about 5:39 p.m. at the Mud Bay pet supply store in the 8800 block of 161st Avenue Northeast after the victim called 911, according to a press release.

The victim said the suspect approached her, pointed a handgun in her direction and indicated for her to surrender her purse. After she complied, the suspect fled. A Renton Police Department K9 unit assisted Redmond police in attempting to track the suspect, who was not located.

The release states that the victim and witnesses described the suspect as a black male in his 20s, about 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11 with a lean build. The suspect was lighter skinned with dark eyes and sported a hood covering his head.

“Redmond Police are actively investigating this case and appreciate any suspect info that can help identify this brazen robber,” the release states.
