Starting in September, the Old Fire House Teen Center will be open Monday and Tuesday in addition to the current Wednesday through Saturday schedule.

The new days will be devoted to providing innovative programming for young people between the ages of 13-19 years old.

The new programming will kick-off with a variety of resources primarily offered through collaborations with other community youth service organizations. Some examples of programming beginning in September include: Mother-Daughter Self Defense taught by Home Alive, College Preparation from Northwest Education Loan Association, Job Assistance by WorkSource, Theatre Sports by 2nd Story Repertory Theatre and affordable music lessons through Rock School.

These programs are based on input from teens at the Youth Summit sponsored by the Redmond Youth Partnership Advisory Committee and from those at the teen center. “We believe that teen programs should always be evolving,” stated Chris Cullen, teen center coordinator. “We intend to update our programs as the needs and interests of young people change. We always welcome their input and involvement to ensure we stay current while utilizing our resources the best way possible.”
