Five high school juniors from Tesla STEM High School recently won $25,000 in the Lexus Eco Challenge.
Sonia Murthy, Dinesh Parimi, Udit Ranasaria, Sophia Tevosyan and Vibha Vadlamani are one of four first-place high school teams.
Their project is an Aquifer Education Campaign. They also placed in the top 16 teams in the Land and Water Challenge. From that, the team won $10,000. The Union Hill Water Association Aquifer inspired their project. The goal was to educate the community about human effects on groundwater sources. The team developed engineering solutions to the problems identified. They developed classroom lessons, materials and posters.
