Due to popular demand, the exhibition of knit artwork at Anderson Park has been extended through August.

The Artificial Light fiber art exhibition, known as “tree socks,” has been on display at the downtown park since Feb. 18.

Artificial Light attracted the excitement and support of the community since a community knit-in event where Tidwell rallied volunteers to help her fabricate the large pieces, according to a city news release. The Sammamish artist then spent two weeks sewing the vivid artworks around the tree trunks.

“The community response has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re thrilled the art sparked so much affection,” said City of Redmond arts program manager Joshua Heim. “We will host the Acts Out theater festival this August in Anderson Park and wanted those audiences to be able to enjoy the art during the festival.”

Artificial Light began as part of the 2012 Redmond Arts Season presented by the Redmond Arts Commission and VALA (Venues for Artists in the Local Area), a non-profit which works to find and create venues for Eastside artists.
