Troop support group sends out 10,000th care package to troops overseas

On Thursday evening, about 100 people were at Lake Washington Post 2995 of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to pack and ship care packages to front-line troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

World War II veteran John Kenny started the program six years ago, when he and his team of volunteers began meeting twice a month at the post in Redmond to pack and ship care packages for the troops.

On Thursday, the group packed their 10,000th box. All of the food and items that are sent over to the troops have been donated by local residents.
