Redmond residents will hold a Walk for Safety at 5:45 p.m. this Tuesday on the Marymoor Park Trail to celebrate the courage and strength of the woman who was attacked on the trail on Aug. 5.

The male suspect is still at large.

“We have had a few tips. So far nothing has panned out. Additionally, we have had deputies and detectives walking the park every night looking for suspects or witnesses,” said Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).

“We will walk to celebrate this strong woman and to show her that this amazing community supports her,” reads an event flier.

Attendees should meet near the bathrooms by Subway and look for the balloons. People can park in lot K near the ballfields.

West, detectives from the KCSO North Precinct and a Redmond Police Department representative will be present to give an update on the case and answer questions.

Also, Belton Lubas of Warrior Strength Martial Arts will give a demonstration and offer tips and tools on how people can protect themselves. Lubas has trained women in self-defense and has trained some Redmond and Bellevue police officers.

Residents will then walk the path along the Sammamish River Trail where the woman was attacked and they’ll hand out fliers of the suspect sketch to people to raise awareness.

Top Pot Donuts will donate donuts and coffee.

• The City of Redmond will hold a Women’s Personal Safety Class for all ages from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Redmond Police Department Training Room, 8701 160th Ave. N.E.
