VALA Eastside seeks featured artist For Redmond Arts Festival

VALA Eastside is seeking an artist or artist team to serve as featured artist of the 2017 Redmond Arts Festival and produce an all-ages community art project on site at the festival from July 7-9 at Redmond Town Center.

The Redmond Arts Festival is a three-day visual arts festival that includes 70 artist booths, art installation at the VALA Art Center, entertainment, food, beer garden and community art project. The featured artist will have a double sized booth space outdoors and volunteers to help lead an interactive community art project.

Artists may apply as a single visual artist or a pair/group of visual or interdisciplinary artists. VALA welcomes artists across a number of different disciplines to apply as a team and lead a community art project that incorporates not just visual art but other art forms as well. Examples of other art forms include, but are not limited to, dance, music, poetry, creative writing and performance arts.

“Around 800 people of all ages and backgrounds are expected to participate in the community art project over the course of the festival weekend. Many of the participants are children visiting with their families. The project gives them the opportunity to meet a working artist and work in collaboration with each other to create art. It’s a very special experience,” says VALA Eastside project manager Marianne Johnson.

A stipend of $2,000 will be paid to the artist/artist team to cover all planning, materials and implementation of the project.
