Welker’s next case-setting hearing scheduled for May 14

Christine Welker, a 54-year-old Redmond woman who was charged with assault in the first degree — domestic violence for reportedly stabbing her 66-year-old husband on the morning of April 28, 2014, was found competent to stand trial and will have a case-setting hearing on May 14, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney Office.

According to a court document dated Feb. 24, “the court took judicial notice of the record and proceedings in the cause and the report(s) from Western State Hospital” in Lakewood.

King County Superior Court documents state that Welker pleaded not guilty to the charge at her arraignment on May 13, 2014.

Welker was charged on April 30, 2014 and is being held in King County Jail in Seattle on $500,000 bail, according to court documents and the press secretary.
