More than 300 Redmond Xerox employees received notice on March 7 that they will be laid off, according to Coco Salazar, the company’s corporate communications manager.

Xerox, which has operated a customer service center in Redmond since 2013, will lay off the 325 employees on May 6, according to a Puget Sound Business Journal story.

Salazar noted that every effort is being made to retain as many positions as possible. A Xerox statement reads:

“Unfortunately, we have made the necessary yet difficult decision to wind down the business unit at our Redmond operations. This decision is not associated with Xerox’s previously announced decision to separate into two independent companies.

“We realize this affects individuals, and every effort is being made to ensure that all employees are treated fairly. Affected employees will have the opportunity to apply to other positions within the company. We will provide job-search assistance as employees seek new jobs within and outside of Xerox. We will also provide a separation package to those who qualify.”
