Dennis L Estrin

Dennis L. Estrin

Dennis was born June 10, 1936 in Dale, MN. and passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on June 16, 2016 from complications of ALS disease.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, daughters, Ann and Cindy, four grandchildren, Kyle, Chase, Ronnie and Celena, and six brothers and sisters, Roger, Barbara, Karen, Bernie, Ernie, and Chuck and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was raised in North Dakota in the rural farm community of New Salem.

This upbringing would prove to shape his life in many ways towards a fondness for farming and especially his interest in restoring old tractors. Shortly after moving to the Seattle area in the mid 1950’s, he met his wife of    nearly 59 years, Marie, while both were working for the Boeing Company. At a young age, Dennis was selected for a special group of Boeing employees that would be on call to make emergency repairs sustained by airplanes around the world.  He traveled to Africa, India and the island of Guadalupe while he was in this position. This was the only time during their lives that Dennis and Marie were apart for any period of time. Their next venture was a motel in Grant’s Pass, Oregon and finally in 1968 Dennis and Marie founded Redmond Cycle, a business where they worked together side by side until their retirement in 1993.

During their retirement years, Dennis and Marie would make an annual winter trek to Apache Junction, Arizona where they often hosted family and friends, and enjoyed riding their horses, golfing and fishing with his brothers.

Before and after retirement, Dennis enjoyed most spending time with his beloved wife and family, going on family vacations together with his two daughters and grandchildren, fishing trips, working on projects, or restoring any one of the several tractors or vintage vehicles he was working on. He was a man with the highest level of character and loyalty to his wife, family and friends.  He always had a joke to tell and a twinkle in his eye that endeared him to all who knew him.

A memorial gathering and celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. on July 9, 2016 at the Sno-Valley Senior Center.

The family wishes to express their gratefulness for the level of care Dennis received during his hospital stay and, in lieu of flowers, suggests donation to the ALS Association, Swedish Hospital, Issaquah, or Carnation Fire Department EMT Services.
