Kathleen Westendorf

Kathleen Ann Westendorf, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away March 16, following a courageous six-year battle with breast cancer.

Kathy was born Oct. 11, 1947 in Moline, Ill., to Bill and Mary Barbour. Following her graduation from McAuley High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, she received an Associates degree in business from the University of Cincinnati in 1967.

Her professional career ranged from sportswear buyer to owner of a wallpaper business and medical receptionist.

Kathy married her high school sweetheart Bill Westendorf in April 1970. The couple lived in Pensacola, Fla., San Jose, Calif., Portland, Ore. and Issaquah, while raising their three children. They moved to their present home in Trilogy at Redmond Ridge five years ago.

Kathy loved travel, sunny places, playing bridge, spending quality time with friends and family and doting on her twin grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her husband and best friend, Bill; daughters Sarah Westendorf and Amy (husband Matt) Pellett; son Brian (wife Amy) Westendorf; and grand twins, Aaron and Alyssa. Kathy is also survived by her parents, Bill and Mary Barbour; her sisters Mary Beth and Suzanne; and her brother Steve (wife Florence).

Kathy’s family thanks God for the many blessings and wonderful years they had with her. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 26 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Issaquah, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, March 27. A reception will follow at the Trilogy Cascade Club, Trilogy at Redmond Ridge at 2 p.m.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the Oncology Department of Virginia Mason Hospital and Providence Hospice of Seattle for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kathy’s honor to Providence Hospice of Seattle or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
