Nancy Regan

Nancy Louise Regan (nee Coyne) died peacefully on Jan. 5 after suffering a massive stroke two weeks earlier. She was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Annie Coyne of County Mayo and County Galway, Ireland. She was also the beloved wife of Richard E. Regan of Bellevue, cherished mother of Michelle M. Palmer (Doug) of Monroe, Carolyn R. Mercer (Jeffrey) of Bay Village, Ohio and Kevin M. Regan of Bellevue and Mageeley, Ireland, as well as the much-loved sister of John P. Coyne (Mary) of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Mary T. Matava (Joe) of Fairview Park, Ohio, and Barbara Ellen Melle (James) of Columbus, Ohio. Grandchildren Meghan, Erin and Daniel Palmer and Claire Mercer will greatly miss their Nana, as will numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Regan was born in Cleveland, graduated from St. John’s College in education, taught in Pahala, Hawaii and resided in the Bellevue area since 1959. She was a teacher, librarian, homemaker, banker and businesswoman, most recently worked at Emerald Heights Retirement Community.

Regan had wide-ranging interests which she embraced with gusto. She was a dancer, singer, music lover, mountaineer, gardener, and traveler. Her adventures included camel riding in Egypt, opera in Australia, trekking in Mexico, tea at the Empress Hotel, and exploring the Cotswolds. She was interested in everyone’s story and made friends wherever she went.

A time of visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan.8 at Flintoft’s Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way, Issaquah.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Redmond at 10:30 am on Friday, Jan. 9 followed by light refreshments at the church.

Friends are invited to view photos, get directions and share memories in the family’s online guest book at www.flintofts.com.
