At about 4:20 a.m. Monday, Redmond police and fire responded when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Northeast 24th Street at a very high speed went across West Lake Sammamish Parkway, hit a guardrail and propelled over and down the embankment, landing just short of the lake.
The driver was deceased on the scene and identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as Anylu Medran-Bautista, a 16-year-old female.
Collision NE 24th/W Lake Samm sadly had 1 fatality. Road should be opened in 30min. Vehicle over embankment, thru trees, just short of lake.

According to a press release from the Redmond Police Department, there were no passengers in the vehicle and the vehicle did not hit any nearby residences. There were no other injuries.

The release states that residents in the area heard the crash and called 911 as the vehicle engulfed in flames.
King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Marine Dive Rescue Unit and Redmond police K-9 Remy assisted with initial search of the area. The area was close to the water, on a steep embankment and heavily wooded, the release states, which prevented vehicles from accessing the scene.

KCSO transported the deceased via a marine unit vessel to Idylwood Park to meet the medical examiner.
Police are still coordinating removal of the vehicle, which may be done via water transport, the release states.

The case is under investigation by the Redmond Police Traffic Division.
