Community response needed for fire victim | Letter

On Aug. 6, one of our Education Hill neighbors on 171st Avenue Northeast experienced a house fire that required a hospital stay. Norm has lived in this home for many years and has been under the expert care of his caregiver, Judy, for 20 years. (Both last names are being withheld for privacy reasons.)

On Aug. 6, one of our Education Hill neighbors on 171st Avenue Northeast experienced a house fire that required a hospital stay. Norm has lived in this home for many years and has been under the expert care of his caregiver, Judy, for 20 years. (Both last names are being withheld for privacy reasons.)

At this time, Norm is living with his daughter, but conditions are cramped and without handicap access for his wheelchair. Judy is staying with a friend, but that is also only temporary.

We are asking for several things to help with this situation:

1) Housing for both Norm and Judy. Must have wheelchair access (bathroom, entrance to house, etc). Should be short term until insurance is solved. Would appreciate housing for their small dog, as well.

2) Bed linens and food to help both Norm, Judy and the hosting family.

If you can provide assistance or would like more information, contact: Jude Runchel at (425) 242-0430 or juderunc@hotmail.com
