Excited to lead Eastside news coverage

Corey Morris takes lead as regional editor of Eastside publications

With about a week of the job under my belt, I thought it was time to put my voice into the community.

I’m excited to lead the newsroom of our Eastside publications as regional editor. I want to thank the former regional editor, Carrie Rodriguez, for her hard work leading the coverage of our communities. I wish her luck in her endeavors.

Thankfully, I’ve been selected to lead a staff of talented writers creating content for publications full of opportunity and potential – and that says a lot given how successful these publications already are.

But new editors inevitably will bring changes to publications. A week deep in this position, it’s too early to say what those changes will be, nor can I speculate how significant those changes will be. What I can do is express my expectations and priorities for the publications moving forward: Our publications will continue to be locally driven; our publications will be our readers’ first source for local news; when the public has questions, our publications will have the answers.

I’m confident we can find our way to meeting and exceeding those expectations.

A successful community newspaper requires community participation. Already, I see that the Eastside community is participating with our newsroom. I ask that you continue sending your story ideas, photos and events to us for publication. We want to highlight what makes our communities great and also keep you informed. I also look forward to meeting our readers and community stakeholders in the coming weeks.

I live in Redmond with my wife and daughter. We’re proud to be part of the Eastside community. And I’m proud to lead your Eastside news coverage.
