Slow down by schools

I work for the Lake Washington School District as an instructional assistant and I cross students everyday to and from school. I have been doing this for 18 years and the drivers here in Redmond don’t understand when children are present, you must slow down to 20 miles per hour.

DRIVING SAFETY

I work for the Lake Washington School District as an instructional assistant and I cross students everyday to and from school. I have been doing this for 18 years and the drivers here in Redmond don’t understand when children are present, you must slow down to 20 miles per hour.

I have people of all ages, including senior citizens, driving by me and they don’t even get it.

I have asked for police officers to come by but it’s not enough and not consistent to get the drivers to slow down when children are present. This is a problem not only at my school but Horace Mann, Einstein and Redmond Elementary Schools. The corner I work at is 160th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 106th Street. I am there from 8:05-8:25 a.m. and again from 3:05-3:25 p.m. except Wednesday, I am there from 1:30-1:55 p.m.

I have tried orange cones and using my hands to slow drivers down.

Drivers, please take precaution in school zones.
