SNOW STORM

City response was appalling

We are just a few of all those concerned Redmond residents who were appalled with the city’s response to clearing the streets during the recent snow storm.

There were no snow removers in sight on Redmond Way, Cleveland Street or at Redmond Town Center during the four-day snow storm. Also, Northeast 85th Street, Northeast 161th Street and Northeast 164th Street did not see any type of snow removal.

These are the main streets in Redmond and there is no excuse or any decision not to clear them.

The residents feel that the Mayor and the City Council have not done their job efficiently and the residents will not forget this disaster when it’s time for elections again.

I called the Mayor’s office to complain and was told that the street cleaners were working 24 hours, seven days a week and that the city only had three street cleaners.

I asked where they were clearing snow and was told in the arterial areas. I then asked where these areas were and was told West Lake Sammamish Parkway. Three street cleaners are not sufficient and the city engineers should know this.

Let this be a learning experience for them: buy more equipment.

We feel that all residents of Redmond should have more than an open apology from the Mayor and City Council for failing to make Redmond a safe place to drive and shop during the Christmas week.

They need to have a plan for disasters such as what we’ve been through.

SNOW STORM

Poor plowing by Redmond

My husband owns a shop in Redmond and we live in Renton. During the recent snow storm, he was able to drive our four-wheel-drive vehicle to Redmond finally, and as he drove along East Lake Sammamish Parkway to work, he noticed something.

East Lake Sammamish Parkway was plowed and clear until he came to the sign separating the City of Sammamish from City of Redmond, and from that point north the roads were terrible. The road was not plowed or anything and this continued right down Redmond Way.

Please consider the safety and well-being of Redmond citizens next time there is a snowstorm.
