REDMOND HIGH GOLF AT A GLANCE

Head Coach: Chris Zimmerman, fifth season

Last Year: 10-0, 4A Kingco champions; 11-0 overall

2009 turnout numbers: 16

KEY RETURNERS

Sr. Charlie Mroz: Team captain and three-time state qualifier played in prestigious junior events this summer and hopes to end his prep career with a bang.

Jrs. Lyle Rudnicki, Oliver Rudnicki: Twin brothers have gotten stronger physically since last year, so lack of length off the tee is no longer an issue. Both played a ton over the summer.

Jr. Cole Helgeson: District qualifier last year has improved and will contribute solid scores.

Soph. Jimbo Curtin: Another district qualifier who has great potential in upcoming years. Bear Creek Country Club member has a big advantage playing matches at home.

TOP NEWCOMER

Jr. Henrique Pombo: Exchange student from Brazil carries a 2-handicap. A fortunate addition for the Mustangs who will greatly help the team’s chances at district and state.

BIG MATCH

Monday, September 13, 2010 vs. Woodinville at Bear Creek Country Club: The Mustangs are excited to take on the rival Falcons on their home turf, a team that they did not get to play last year. If they can get past Woodinville, another undefeated season will be that much closer.

COACH’S CORNER:

“We have everyone returning from an 11-0 season last year, so I have a positive outlook on the season. Those five guys returning that went to districts last year, with the addition of Henrique should make us a pretty strong team. All 11 of our guys are pretty solid players, and we have some good younger guys that should contribute. Our main focus this year is having a better showing at the district tournament. The last few years we have had strong regular seasons and then not played well at districts. Hopefully we can turn that around this year. I can already tell that we have good team chemistry which helps a lot.” – Chris Zimmerman, Redmond boys golf head coach
