The Bear Creek Grizzlies varsity cross country teams participated in the Twilight Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Marysville High on the hilly Cedarcrest Golf Course.

The Bear Creek Grizzlies varsity cross country teams participated in the Twilight Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Marysville High on the hilly Cedarcrest Golf Course.

The boys placed 15th out of 27 teams (170 runners) led by freshman Alex Finan, 41st overall, with a 17:52 personal record time over the 5K course. He was followed closely by JJ Finan in 18:24, Luke Poling in 18:50, Sean Gallagher in 18:59, Joseph Tsou in 21:36, Steven Dunn 23:22 and Peter Li in 24:14.

The girls finished 13th out of 15 teams led by freshman Olivia Markezich in 20:13, who broke Bear Creek’s school record; she reached the podium for an overall award in 11th place for the third consecutive invitational this season. Angela Tzen was 18th in 20:40 and Ranne Xiao, Abigail Helm and Lucy Caile all ran strong races with personal bests.
