Gardiner wins gold at U.S. Open World Martial Arts Championships

Amanda Gardiner, a third-degree black belt in taekwondo, won gold at the recent ISKA U.S Open World Martial Arts Championships at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Fla. The mixed-martial-arts event attracted nearly 7,000 athletes, coaches and family members from around the world, including teams from Germany, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil and Jamaica.

Amanda Gardiner, a third-degree black belt in taekwondo, won gold at the recent ISKA U.S Open World Martial Arts Championships at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Fla. The mixed-martial-arts event attracted nearly 7,000 athletes, coaches and family members from around the world, including teams from Germany, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil and Jamaica.

Gardiner is an instructor at Park’s Taekwondo in Redmond, teaching classes when not busy traveling to competitions. She has participated in the sport for eight years.

Known for her outstanding weapons routines, the prior taekwondo national champion in weapons won gold and bronze in two weapons divisions at the U.S. Open event. This international event continues her winning streak, as she is undefeated in weapons in this year’s competition season.

Her past major accomplishments include reigning national champion in weapons, U.S World titles in sparring and weapons and Pan-American Champion in four different divisions, including weapons. She has beat out teams from all over the world at international competitions, including Team Canada, Mexico, Germany, Denmark, South Africa and Australia.
