Grizzlies thump Cedar Park, to play in district championship game | Prep basketball report

The No. 1 seeded Bear Creek boys, after routing Concrete 84-43 last Saturday, made quick work of Cedar Park Christian (Mountlake Terrace) last night at Mount Vernon Christian School, 74-51. The team scored 24 points in the first quarter, led 39-17 at the half and never looked back.

Erik Domas led with a game-high 23, followed by guards Luke Blankenbeckler (14) and Jesse Leuenberger (10).

With the win, the Grizzlies (20-2) go on to play in the Bi-District title game Saturday night at 6:15 against La Conner, with the winner taking the No. 1 seed to the regionals round and the loser the No. 2.

 

Bear Creek girls’ big finish propels them to district title game

The Bear Creek girls were able to hold on Wednesday night in the Bi-District semifinals against La Conner, scoring 17 points in the fourth quarter to hold off the Braves 42-37.

For the Grizzlies, Kristina Engelstone led all scorers with 11, followed by her sister Kendall with 10 and Madelyn Magee with nine.

With the win, the Grizzlies (16-5) advance to the Bi-District Championship against Tacoma Baptist on Saturday at Chief Leschi School in Puyallup, starting at 4:30 p.m.  Both teams will advance to the 2B Regionals on Feb. 25, and will be playing for seeding.
