Jake Imam is now part of the Bear Creek School’s history books.

The freshman dominated this year’s 1A/2B/1B state tournament at Yakima Tennis Club last Friday and Saturday, plowing through the competition to win the state championship. Imam’s win was the first state title ever for the Grizzlies’ tennis program.

Imam’s incredible run began with a 6-0, 6-1 thrashing of Waco Budiselich of Liberty Bell, and then Nik Vishwanath of St. George’s got blanked 6-0, 6-0.

Imam gave up one game in the second set to Seth Gibbons in another decisive 6-0, 6-1 victory, and in the finals Imam was no match for Cascade Christian’s Nathan Anderson 6-1, 6-2.

Going into the final, Anderson had lost just nine games for the tournament while winning 36.
